Introducing SAILOR FleetBroadband 150

Many of you will have seen the announcement at the end of September 2008 that Thrane & Thrane would be developing a terminal for the new Inmarsat 150 FleetBroadband service. Well today, we would like to take the opportunity to formally introduce this exciting new product, which is now almost ready, prior to its official launch in May and availability in July 2009.

Offering global coverage on the successful Inmarsat I4 broadband satellites, SAILOR 150 FleetBroadband is a competitive, single-user, entry-level solution designed for vessels with lower airtime budgets and bandwidth requirements.

With an antenna that is even smaller and lighter than the SAILOR 250 FleetBroadband, SAILOR 150 FleetBroadband is ideal for any vessel looking for entry into the world of broadband at sea. With an expected retail price of around $5000 — and straightforward installation, SAILOR 150 FleetBroadband addresses several segments including merchant and professional vessels currently reluctant to utilise the internet for operational purposes because of technical and cost issues. It can also fulfill a need in the recreational market where there is currently no suitable solution from existing electronics manufacturers.

The new SAILOR 150 FleetBroadband terminal offers 150kbps IP data and simultaneous quality voice using the innovative Thrane IP Handset. The data speed, price and flexibility of this entry level solution ensure that it doesn't overlap the core FleetBroadband 250 and 500 offering. However, it is capable of introducing the use of IP applications to vessels that could not previously afford this efficient way of operation so SAILOR 150 FleetBroadband ensures that a new class of user can now benefit from the FleetBroadband revolution.

Although a strictly entry level product, aimed at first time internet and IP users, and smaller budgets, it is based on the same design values and high quality build as all SAILOR products. So any vessel with basic IP and voice requirements can enjoy the same reliability and ease of use as the flagship SAILOR FleetBroadband systems, but at a fraction of the cost.

SAILOR 150 FleetBroadband users will of course also benefit from Thrane & Thrane's highly regarded network of On board Service Centres (OSC), which consists of 40 locations around the world. Herein Polaris Electronics A/S
